Double Crap!

The comments are often interesting. Sometimes, they're downright hilarious. Today, they were humbling, as Kari reminded me of a little oversight on my part.

I was so busy talking about myself and saying things to make Kim hate me that I completely forgot to tell y'all that Hans got a job too.§ Same place. We'll probably still have adjoining offices.

*whew*

There.

Back on the high road.#

FOOTNOTE (crossed): *cough*

FOOTNOTE (double-crossed): Dear Kim, I've said it before:

"Look at me," said the star, "I'm shining so brightly." Then it went supernova. The moral of this story is obvious. - Tanith Lee, The Silver Metal Lover

§FOOTNOTE (swerved): And he doesn't even have to be one of my minions.

FOOTNOTE (paragraphed): There is some chance I will have to move to the other side of our floor, given my two extant minions office there and it's where the empty offices where the two TBD minions will likely live.

#FOOTNOTE (pounded): Where a saint-in-training belongs.

I just have to say - "The Silver Metal Lover" is one of my all time favorite books. It was an integral part of my relationship with Kev, even. Tanith Rules.

Will Hans get to wear jeans every day?

I thought of you when I (re)quoted Tanith Lee, Jeffe.

"I bet Jeffe will know this reference," I said to myself.

I also loved Sung in Shadows - beautifully written

Kim, would it make you happier with me if Hans got to wear jeans? He's not going to be one of my minions, but I could lobby for a dispensation on his behalf if you'd hate me less.

I meant to ask you aobut Hans but mostly i want to say ZOMG I LOVE SILVER METAL LOVER AND I CAN PLACE MY HAND ON A COPY WITHOUT MOVING MY ASS FROM THIS SEAT. Clearly, our friendship was destiny. Also, I know what I am reading this week.

Holy cats! You and Jeffe BOTH know Silver Metal Lover! Even with my SciFi/Fantasy friends, it can be a bit obscure.

Hearting you like a two-dollar whore.

And Hans appreciates your looking out for him.

Some desultory research reveals a used hardback like mine goes for about $71. Readers of obscurity rule!

I have but a paperback, but still... I feel like being a Reader of Obscurity (which would be an excellent name for a semi-emo alternative folk band) is finally paying off.

Funny story: I also have a copy of Sung in Shadows stolen for me from the OHS library because it was out of print and I mentioned how much I liked it and SOMEONE yanked the security tab out of it and gave it to me for Christmas one year.

I know it's awful in some ways, but it's a history for that book and I like it.

You might have to become an anonymous benefactor to the OHS libary - would make a nice circle

That's a fantastic idea. Now... how do I give money anonymously without just handing over cash...?

The way I see it, you could either buy a book (that one?) or two or whatever and just have them delivered.

Or mail a money order. That would just come from the bank.

You could always include a note. Something like "In Memory of a girl who loved a book so much she kept it a little too long."

Clearly I love this concept...

Whatever else, I'm definitely including a note. A poignant note.

I love this concept almost as much as you do. I'm starting the wheels turning...
